Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial – Veterans Day Ceremony
Free

San Diego’s identity is forged by its profound connection to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.
This Veterans Day, we celebrate that bond with a ceremony dedicated to the 250th anniversaries of both branches. The event will not only honor all who have served but will also tell the story of two of our city’s oldest military installations:
Naval Air Station North Island and Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.
Join us as we recognize two influential pioneers who represent those working monuments:
Commander Theodore Gordon “Spuds” Ellyson
U.S. Navy, the Navy’s first aviator
Major General Joseph Pendleton
U.S. Marine Corps, MCRD’s first commanding officer, whose work built the foundation for a relationship that continues to define our community.
Calling All Sons!
The request is out for the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick to once again assist in the execution of this year’s ceremony. They expect 800-1000 people to attend. For you, it’s an 8am to 1pm commitment: set-up, break down, crowd assistance, etc.
Provided: morning snacks, coffees, sodas and a lunch meal. Please let Everett know if you plan to help, details will follow:
