This time-honored program celebrates the joy of Irish heritage\, the spirit of community involvement\, and the young women who proudly represent the San Diego Irish community. \n​Each year\, the Miss Colleen Selection honors a young woman who embodies the values symbolized by the Claddagh: love\, friendship\, and loyalty. As Miss Colleen\, she serves as a role model for future generations and represents the Irish Congress of Southern California (ICSC) at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival\, as well as at other ICSC and Irish community events throughout the year. \nMiss Colleen also receives the opportunity to be reimbursed up to $1\,200 for airfare to Ireland\, allowing her to experience and deepen her appreciation of her Irish heritage firsthand. The selection process includes private\, off-stage interviews with judges\, followed by an on-stage introduction where contestants answer questions based on their submitted questionnaires.
